The Cradle-to-Legacy Model
A comprehensive restoration journey that meets Veterans where they are and walks with them to where God is calling them to be.
Veteran Mentorship at Every Stage
Our model is rooted in the belief that transformation isn't a program—it's a relationship. Veteran mentors who have walked this path guide participants through each stage, offering wisdom, accountability, and unwavering support. We don't just change behavior; we reveal and restore identity in Christ. Each stage intentionally positions Veterans as the primary agents of change—because no one understands a Veteran's journey like another Veteran who has walked the same road.
Cradle
Early Trauma & Discipleship
Focus
Addressing the roots of pain and identity wounds that drive destructive patterns. This stage recognizes that transformation must begin with understanding the early trauma and lies believed about self-worth.
Activities
Gospel-centered identity formation, Biblical counseling, trauma-informed care, small group discipleship, and deep exploration of how early experiences shaped current struggles.
Veteran Role
Veterans who have completed the journey lead small groups, share their testimony of identity transformation, and create safe spaces for vulnerable conversations about childhood wounds and shame.
Outcome
Participants discover their worth isn't tied to performance or past failures—it's anchored in Christ. They begin to see themselves through God's eyes and understand the roots of their pain.
Recovery
In-Prison Identity & Healing
Focus
Behind bars, transformation takes root. This stage focuses on deep spiritual renewal, breaking the prison mindset, and establishing a foundation of healing while still incarcerated.
Activities
Regular mentorship visits, intensive Bible studies, life skills training, substance abuse recovery curriculum, anger management, and establishing healthy routines and accountability structures.
Veteran Role
Veteran mentors visit regularly, provide Biblical teaching, model what transformation looks like, hold participants accountable, and demonstrate that redemption is possible—because they've lived it.
Outcome
Incarcerated Veterans discover they are sons of God, not numbers in a system. They develop spiritual disciplines, emotional regulation, and a vision for life beyond prison walls.
Re-Entry
Housing, Community & Stability
Focus
The critical transition from prison to freedom. This stage provides immediate stability—safe housing, community support, and practical resources—so participants can focus on continued healing without survival mode.
Activities
Haven Homes transitional housing, employment assistance and job placement, transportation support, ongoing counseling and therapy, community integration, financial literacy training, and connection to local churches.
Veteran Role
Veteran house leaders provide daily mentorship, structure, and accountability. They help navigate job searches, teach life skills, model healthy routines, and create a brotherhood that understands the unique struggles of re-entry.
Outcome
Veterans establish stability in housing and employment. They build a supportive network of brothers who understand the journey. They learn to navigate freedom with structure, accountability, and purpose.
Restoration
Family Reunification & Legacy
Focus
Breaking generational cycles by restoring fathers to families. This stage addresses the relational wreckage of the past and equips Veterans to be present, engaged, and healthy fathers and family members.
Activities
Parenting classes and father-child activities, marriage enrichment and conflict resolution, family counseling and mediation, supervised visits progressing to unsupervised custody, co-parenting communication training, and legacy planning.
Veteran Role
Veteran mentors who have reconciled with their own families guide participants through the hard work of rebuilding trust. They model healthy conflict resolution, celebrate small victories, and provide honest feedback.
Outcome
Fathers reconnect with their children and families. Relationships are rebuilt on honesty, consistency, and love. Veterans learn to break destructive patterns and create new, healthy legacies for their families.
Legacy
Graduates Become Restorers
Focus
The ultimate expression of transformation—becoming a mentor and restorer for others. This stage ensures the movement multiplies as graduates pour their lives into the next generation of participants.
Activities
Mentor training and certification, leading groups in jails and prisons, house leadership at Haven Homes, speaking at events and sharing testimony, helping with job placement and life skills training for newer participants.
Veteran Role
Veterans step fully into leadership. They become the mentors, the house leaders, the voices of hope. They walk alongside others just as someone walked with them. The restored become restorers.
Outcome
A multiplying movement of transformation. Every graduate becomes a living testimony and active participant in reaching other Veterans. The cycle of redemption continues, creating an exponential impact across families and communities.
Why This Works
It's Personal: Our mentors have lived this journey. They understand the pain, the shame, and the power of redemption. Veteran-to-Veteran connection creates credibility and trust that opens doors for real transformation.
It's Comprehensive: We don't just address one area of life—we walk with Veterans through every dimension of restoration: spiritual, emotional, relational, and practical. From the roots of childhood trauma to the legacy they'll leave for their grandchildren.
It's Christ-Centered: We believe true transformation comes from identity change, not behavior modification. When a Veteran sees themselves as Christ sees them—beloved, redeemed, purposeful—everything changes from the inside out.
It's Multiplying: Every restored Veteran becomes a restorer. This creates a movement that grows exponentially as graduates pour their lives into the next generation. One transformed Veteran can impact dozens, who then impact hundreds, creating lasting generational change.
